Join us for a day of fun activities with 25 conservation and outdoor recreation groups!


It’s FREE and open to people of all ages.


When? Saturday, March 9, 2024 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.


Where? Bottle Works Ethnic Arts Center


411 Third Ave., Johnstown, PA


The Bottle Works and Penguin Court, a preserve of Brandywine Conservancy, present our 6th annual family friendly, and completely free, event bringing 20+ nature and/or conservation-based vendors to the Bottle Works for a nature expo.  Vendors will have information to educate community participants on outdoor recreation opportunities in our region, sustainable ways to participate, environmental conservation, and more!

Participating agencies include:
Allegheny Ridge Corp (Pittsburgh to Harrisburg Main Line Canal Greenway) - Color your own map while learning about local bike and water trails!

Benscreek Canoe Club - Learn about water safety, kayaking locally, & a photo op.
Bluebird Society of Pennsylvania - Learn more about these sweet birds, including how to properly sight your nesting box.
Brandywine Conservancy's Penguin Court - Animal tracks are easily visible in snow and mud. Use rubber replicas and ink to make your own ID booklet to take home.
Cambria County Conservation District - Live reptiles and amphibians.

DCNR Bureau of Forestry - Interactive tree ID quiz
First Waves - Screening of film(s).

PA Fish and Boat Commission Herps - Learn about the types of animals Herpetologists study. Stop by to explore reptiles and amphibians, and some ways you can tell the differences between some of these very similar animals. There will be hands-on activities, as well as a craft to make or take.
Saint Francis University R.O.C.K. - Purple cabbage as pH indicator with household items.
PA Master Naturalist - Common Backyard Bird ID and scavenger hunt with binoculars. Wingspan poster. Painting with feathers.
PSU - Master Gardeners - Butterfly life cycle
SEADS Garden Center
Somerset Conservation District - Bees as pollinators and craft.
Somerset County Recycling -Sift through a landfill to separate recyclables.
Stackhouse Park - Nature Crafts to compliment Story Walk book(s) owls.
Stonycreek-Conemaugh River Improvement Project (SCRIP) - Making iron oxide colored chalk.
USDA -Rabies - how to protect yourself and your pet; animal furs.

The Watersmith Guild will host an information booth as well as two film screenings throughout the day. Schedule below:
